How it works

Five steps, and your item back at the end

Five stages, from valuing your item to the money arriving. What happens at each, what we need from you, and how long it takes.

  1. Step 01 Before you give us anything

    Value your item

Every item page values your item on the page. Tell it what you have, add a few photographs, and it shows you a figure with the working behind it. No account, no credit check, no obligation.

  2. Step 02 Within 3 hours

    Receive your offer

A specialist in that category reviews what you have sent and confirms an indicative offer. For anything that needs an outside opinion it takes longer, and we will say so rather than guess.

  3. Step 03 Free, insured either way

    Send it or bring it

Small items travel by Royal Mail Special Delivery on a free label we email you, insured door to door and opened on camera when they reach us. Larger or more fragile items go by specialist courier. Or bring it to the City of London office by appointment.

  4. Step 04 Within 1 working hour

    Sign and receive the funds

We confirm the valuation with the item in front of us, you sign the agreement electronically, and the money goes to a UK bank account in your name — within an hour of signing, if your bank is on Faster Payments.

  5. Step 05 Six months, renewable

    Redeem when you are ready

Repay in full whenever you like and your item comes back by free insured courier, in the condition it arrived in. Repay early and you pay less interest, not more.

Getting it to us

Three ways in, all of them insured

By post

A free Royal Mail Special Delivery QR label, emailed to you. Tracked the whole way, signed for by us, and opened under camera. Insured up to the full valuation.

By specialist courier

For anything large, heavy or fragile — a canvas, a canteen of silver, a piece of furniture. Arranged by us; tell us what you have and we will book it.

In person

By appointment at Token House in the City of London, so a specialist in your category is in the building when you arrive.

At the end of the term

Three things can happen

Plainly, because it matters: if the loan is not repaid or renewed at the end of its term, your item may be sold to settle it. You owe nothing further, and nothing is reported.

You repay

The loan closes and your item comes back by free insured courier, or you collect it by appointment. Repay early and you pay less interest.

You extend

Settle the accrued interest and charges and the loan runs for a further term. We reconsider the valuation, and if the item has fallen in value you pay the difference.

You do neither

The item is sold to recover what is owed. Anything left over once the loan and the costs of sale are settled is returned to you by bank transfer, and the default is not reported to any credit agency.

Who holds it · who funds it

Trinity Pawnbrokers receives, values and safeguards your item. Unbolted funds the loan against it.

One firm behind both: Open Access Finance Ltd, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under reference 741896. You deal with Trinity throughout.
