If it is valuable and insurable, we can usually lend against it

Seven categories have a page of their own because they are what people bring us most. They are not the limit. What matters is whether a specialist can authenticate it, an insurer will cover it, and there is a market that would buy it.

What makes something lendable

It can be authenticated

A specialist in the category has to be able to establish what it is — a reference, a hallmark, a certificate, a provenance trail. Anything that cannot be verified cannot be valued.

It can be insured

Cover runs from the moment your item leaves you until the moment it comes back. If an underwriter will not cover it in transit and storage, we will not take it in.

It has a resale market

A valuation is an estimate of what the item would realise on the secondary market today. Rarity alone is not value; there has to be somebody who buys these.

It can be moved and held safely

Most things travel by insured courier. Larger or more fragile items go by specialist logistics. Anything that cannot be safely moved or stored is a conversation, not a no.
